Where to Stay Near Indianapolis Hospitals: A Quiet Place for Extended Visits

If you’re wondering where to stay near Indianapolis hospitals, not every trip that brings you here is a vacation.

Sometimes you’re coming to welcome a new grandchild. Sometimes a parent or someone else you care about is undergoing a procedure or receiving treatment. And sometimes you simply need to be nearby for a while.

We’ve welcomed Rosslyn Retreat guests for all of those reasons.

What we’ve learned from them is that when you’re spending several days—or a couple of weeks—in Indianapolis, where you stay can make a real difference.

Guests have told us they appreciate Rosslyn Retreat’s quiet neighborhood, convenient location, private backyard and comfortable living spaces. One guest specifically wanted outdoor space. Others have enjoyed taking walks through the neighborhood.

When much of your day is centered around someone else’s care, having a comfortable place of your own can be especially welcome.

A Quiet Home Base Near Indianapolis Hospitals

Rosslyn Retreat is a three-bedroom home in Indianapolis’ Broad Ripple neighborhood. Its location provides convenient access to several of the city’s major hospitals while giving guests a residential place to return to at the end of the day.

Major Indianapolis hospitals within driving distance include:

Ascension St. Vincent Hospital – Indianapolis

Located on West 86th Street, Ascension St. Vincent is the closest major hospital to Rosslyn Retreat, approximately a 15-minute drive under normal traffic conditions.

The same campus includes Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, making Rosslyn convenient for families visiting either facility.

Community Hospital North

Located on Clearvista Drive on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Community Hospital North is approximately 15–20 minutes from Rosslyn Retreat, depending on traffic.

IU Health Methodist Hospital

IU Health Methodist Hospital is located just north of downtown Indianapolis and is approximately a 15–20-minute drive from Rosslyn Retreat.

IU Health University Hospital

Located on the IU Indianapolis medical campus downtown, IU Health University Hospital is approximately 20 minutes from Rosslyn Retreat, depending on traffic.

Riley Hospital for Children

Drive times are approximate and can vary considerably with Indianapolis traffic and construction.

Close Enough to Be There. Comfortable Enough to Step Away.

Hospital visits can mean long days and schedules that aren’t entirely your own.

That’s one reason some guests prefer staying in a private home instead of spending an extended visit in a hotel room.

Rosslyn Retreat gives guests space for normal life between visits:

  • Three bedrooms and room for up to six guests
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Comfortable living room with stone gas fireplace
  • 1-Gig Wi-Fi
  • Private driveway parking
  • Laundry
  • Private fenced backyard
  • Outdoor living area
  • Quiet residential neighborhood
  • Pet-friendly accommodations

You can make breakfast before leaving in the morning, prepare your own dinner when you return, take a walk through the neighborhood or spend some quiet time outside.

Sometimes those ordinary things matter.

A Private Backyard and Outdoor Living Space

More than one Rosslyn guest has asked about the backyard and outdoor seating.

The private fenced yard offers another place to spend time away from the house—whether that’s having coffee outside in the morning, reading for a while, talking with family or simply unwinding after a long day.

Our outdoor living area provides comfortable seating with a couch, loveseat, chair and coffee table, creating another space to relax during your stay.

For guests traveling with a dog, the fully fenced yard can also make an extended visit considerably easier.

Staying in Indianapolis to Welcome a New Baby

Some of our guests haven’t been visiting Indianapolis because someone was ill at all.

They’ve been here for one of life’s happiest reasons: the arrival of a new grandchild.

An extended stay nearby can allow grandparents and other loved ones to be available when they’re needed while still giving new parents—and themselves—a little space.

Instead of living out of a hotel room or staying in the new parents’ home, Rosslyn provides a separate place to sleep, cook, relax and settle in for a longer visit.

Restaurants Near Rosslyn Retreat

After a day at the hospital, cooking may be the last thing you want to do.

Fortunately, Rosslyn is close to restaurants throughout Broad Ripple and the 54th Street/College Avenue area.

Recent guests have specifically told us they enjoyed meals at Diavola, Binkley’s Kitchen & Bar and Flatwater Restaurant.

Other nearby options include Twenty Tap, Half Liter BBQ and Fire by the Monon.

Whether you want to sit down for dinner, pick something up on the way home or meet family for a meal, you don’t have to travel far from Rosslyn to find plenty of choices.

Groceries and Everyday Essentials Nearby

For a stay lasting a week or longer, being able to shop for groceries can be just as important as having restaurants nearby.

Rosslyn’s full kitchen allows guests to cook as much—or as little—as they want during their stay.

Nearby grocery options include:

That can be particularly helpful during a longer stay when eating every meal at a restaurant becomes expensive and tiring.

A Neighborhood Where You Can Take a Walk

One of the things guests have mentioned about Rosslyn is something that’s easy to overlook on an amenities list: the neighborhood itself.

Rosslyn sits on a quiet residential street where guests can step outside and take a walk without needing to drive somewhere first.

Broad Ripple also provides easy access to the Monon Trail, neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops and other everyday conveniences.

After spending much of the day in a hospital or medical setting, sometimes taking a walk through a quiet neighborhood is exactly what you need.
